Team Marty

Marty Lembo was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer in March 2016. For over two years, Marty bravely fought this awful disease with the support of the Wilmot Cancer teams of Dr. Richard Dunne, Dr. Fergal Fleming, and Dr. Roberto Hernandez-Alejandro and the strong love and compassion of our family and friends. On May 29th, 2018, Marty’s body could no longer fight, but his love of life and laughter lives on in all who knew him.

During Marty’s treatment, Dr. Dunne encouraged him to exercise every day. Although motivating him when he wasn’t feeling well was difficult, he always felt better after moving. To honor his dedication to exercise, we have participated in the annual Wilmot Warrior Walk for the past six years, raising funds for the Wilmot Cancer Institute.

Thanks to the generosity of our family and friends, we raised $40,093 in 2025 and $33,450 in 2024! To continue the momentum we have built over the last nine years, we aim to raise at least $35,000 in 2026! To support this goal, we have added additional events and even more ways to get involved and support Team Marty!

Wilmot Warrior Walk

2026 will mark Team Marty’s 9th year participating in the Wilmot Warrior Walk, raising funds for research to continue to find new treatment methods for those who must face this horrific disease for years to come.
